Cabin occupancy is limited to the maximum number of guests identified by cabin on this site. If you’d like to sleep more guests per cabin, permission must be sought in advance and an extra charge will be levied, per person, in addition to the posted rates.
If you are renting a cabin with us, you’re welcome to have friends and family visit during your stay. Visitor hours are from 10 am to 10 pm everyday. All visitors have to check in with reception upon arrival. If a visitor would like to bring any type of motorized watercraft and use Melwel’s launch, permission must be sought and received in advance.
All bookings require a 35% deposit.
Spring and fall bookings can be cancelled without penalty if the booking is cancelled 21 full days prior to the first day of the booking. If a spring/fall booking is cancelled 21 days prior to the first day of the booking, the deposit will be refunded in full. If a spring/fall booking is not cancelled 21 days prior to the first day of the booking, the deposit will be forfeited in full when the booking is cancelled.
Summer bookings can be cancelled without penalty if the booking is cancelled 45 full days prior to the first day of the booking. Dog’s are permitted at Melwel.
If your dog is friendly with other dogs and people, it’s welcome at Melwel at an additional charge of $25.00 per night. There is a limit of one dog per cabin. We appreciate that not all guests are comfortable with dogs, so we require that a guest keep its dog on a lead or leash at all times. We ask that our guests with a dog make their best efforts to keep their dog off of the furnishings and clean up after them on the property.
Tents and travel trailers are not permitted.
Melwel is located approximately 100 km (65 miles) east of Sault Ste Marie.
We can be reached from Toronto, Chicago, and Detroit within a one-hour flight followed by a 1.5-hour drive from the Sault Ste. Marie municipal airport.
For visitors flying charter, the Thessalon municipal airport (CPL5) is within a 20-minute drive from the lodge and features a 3100 ft runway.
Commercial flights are available via the Sault Ste Marie, Ontario (YAM) airport or the Chippewa County airport (CIU) in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
